Eligibility

Every post needs experience, counted with the upper age limit as on 30 September 2026, with full experience declared in the form. Technical Assistant posts need a three-year full-time diploma in the relevant branch plus two years of experience; a B.E./B.Tech. without a diploma is not considered. Trade posts need SSC or ITI in the relevant trade, with two years of experience, mostly in shipbuilding. The Hindi Translator post needs a bachelor's degree in Hindi/English with a one-year translation diploma, or a bachelor's degree with a postgraduate Hindi qualification, plus two years of translation experience. The Nurse post needs B.Sc. Nursing or a two-year nursing diploma with two years of experience. Steward cum Cook needs SSC with ten years of cooking and catering experience, including as an Armed Forces mess or naval ship cook.

Pay and age

Consolidated monthly pay rises each contract year: Sr. 1-3, Rs. 41,400, Rs. 43,500 and Rs. 45,700; Sr. 4-10, Rs. 31,200, Rs. 32,800 and Rs. 34,500; Sr. 11-17, Rs. 28,700, Rs. 30,200 and Rs. 31,800; Sr. 18-19, Rs. 27,200, Rs. 28,600 and Rs. 30,100; and Steward cum Cook, Rs. 40,700, Rs. 42,800 and Rs. 45,000. The upper age limit as on 30 September 2026 is 36 for the OBC-reserved Hindi Translator post, 33 for UR/EWS candidates in Sr. 2-19, and 41 for UR/EWS candidates for Steward cum Cook. OBC (NCL) gets three years and SC/ST five years over the UR/EWS limit, with Ex-Servicemen, Ex-Agniveer and PwBD relaxation as per Government of India guidelines, capped at 56 after all relaxations.

Fee

The fee is Rs. 200, non-refundable, through SBI e-pay. SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and internal candidates are exempt; the PDF names no OBC (NCL) or EWS exemption, and an application without the fee is liable to be rejected.

Selection process

Selection is a written test, document verification and a skill or trade test; no interview is stated. The written test, by computer or pen and paper, is normally 25% general aptitude and 75% subject or trade questions. Weightage is written 50% and skill 50% for Sr. 1-3, 40% and 60% for Sr. 4-10, and 30% and 70% for Sr. 11-20. Minimum qualifying marks in each test are 40% for General and EWS candidates and 35% for SC, ST, PwBD and OBC candidates where the post is reserved for that category.
