What is RRB NTPC?
Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) is one of the largest Railway recruitments. The Railway Recruitment Boards run it as two Centralised Employment Notices (CENs): one for graduate-level posts and one for undergraduate (Class 12) posts. Station Master, Goods Train Manager, ticket clerks and accounts clerks are among the posts filled. Candidates apply through one RRB but compete in a common computer-based test.
2026 recruitment
Graduate level, CEN 06/2026: 3,548 posts. Goods Train Manager is the largest group (2,750 posts), followed by Senior Clerk cum Typist (371), Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist (300) and Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor (127). The last date is 06.11.2026, and CBT-1 is planned for the fourth week of December 2026.
Undergraduate level, CEN 07/2026: 1,688 posts. These are Commercial cum Ticket Clerk (700), Junior Clerk cum Typist (600), Accounts Clerk cum Typist (200) and Trains Clerk (188). The last date is 13.11.2026.
Eligibility
Graduate posts need a degree from a recognised university and an age of 18 to 33 years. Undergraduate posts need Class 12 with at least 50% marks (not required for SC/ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen) and an age of 18 to 30 years. Upper age relaxation applies to reserved categories as given in each CEN.

Each wrong answer costs one-third of a mark. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC and SC, and 25% for ST. CBT-1 is a screening test; merit is decided by CBT-2. Typist posts then take a typing skill test, and Traffic posts take a Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
Salary
Undergraduate posts are at Pay Level 2 or 3 (basic ₹19,900 or ₹21,700). Graduate posts are at Level 5 (₹29,200) or Level 6 (₹35,400). Railway employees also get dearness allowance, HRA, night duty allowance where applicable, and free railway passes.
Fee refund
General candidates pay ₹500, of which ₹400 is refunded after they appear in CBT-1. SC, ST, women, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other listed categories pay ₹250, refunded in full after CBT-1.
