About RRB NTPC Graduate 2026

The Railway Recruitment Boards have published Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 06/2026 for Non-Technical Popular Categories at graduate level. There are 3,548 vacancies across four posts in Pay Levels 5 and 6, spread over the RRBs. Online applications opened on 8 October 2026 and close on 6 November 2026 at 23:59.

Post Pay Level Initial pay Vacancies
Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor 6 ₹35,400 127
Goods Train Manager 5 ₹29,200 2,750
Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist 5 ₹29,200 300
Senior Clerk cum Typist 5 ₹29,200 371
Total 3,548

Eligibility

  • Education: a degree from a recognised university, or equivalent, completed by the closing date. Candidates still waiting for final results should not apply.
  • Age: 18 to 33 years as on 1 January 2027 (born between 2 January 1994 and 1 January 2009 for UR/EWS). OBC-NCL get 3 years and SC/ST 5 years of relaxation. Ex-servicemen, PwBD, serving railway staff and widowed or divorced women have separate limits in the notification.
  • SC, ST and OBC candidates applying against UR vacancies do not get age relaxation.

No typing test this time

For CEN 06/2026 the Computer Based Typing Skill Test for Senior Clerk cum Typist and Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist has been dropped. Typing proficiency will be checked after joining, and poor performance can delay confirmation or promotion, so typing practice still matters.

Exam pattern

Stage General Awareness Mathematics Reasoning Total Time
CBT-1 (screening) 40 30 30 100 90 min
CBT-2 50 35 35 120 90 min
  • Every question carries 1 mark and 1/3 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
  • PwBD candidates eligible for a scribe get 120 minutes.
  • CBT-1 only shortlists. Up to 15 times the community-wise vacancies of each RRB are called for CBT-2, which decides merit, followed by document verification and medical examination.

One RRB only, so choose carefully

You can submit only one application, to one RRB, and inside it you list your preferences for zones and posts. Applying to more than one RRB gets all your applications rejected and can debar you from future RRB exams. Pick the RRB where the posts you want have vacancies; Annexure B of the notification lists them zone by zone. The RRB you choose and the details in 'Create an Account' cannot be changed later, even in the modification window.

Medical standard matters

Each post has a medical (vision) standard. Goods Train Manager and Trains Clerk need stricter standards (A2/A3) than the clerical posts (C2). If you wear glasses, check the standard for each post in the notification before giving preferences, because you can be found unfit at the medical stage after clearing both CBTs.

How to prepare

With CBT-1 likely from late December, you have about two months. General Awareness carries the most marks in both stages, so daily current affairs plus static GK on railways, polity and geography pays off. The Mathematics syllabus in the notification covers number system, percentage, profit and loss, time and work, time and distance, interest, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and elementary statistics. Use the official mock test on the RRB website to get used to the interface.
