The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, has issued Advertisement No. 411002/8/2026-NFR dated 27 October 2026, for the post of Deputy Registrar in Pay Level-12 (Rs. 78,800-2,09,200). There are 2 vacancies: 1 by Direct Recruitment (EWS) and 1 by Deputation. The post is suitable for Divyang candidates having benchmark disabilities: low vision, hard of hearing, and locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy. The EWS post was previously advertised vide Advt. No. 411002/12/2025-NFR dated 20 February 2026 and remained vacant; if no suitable EWS candidate is available, it may be filled as an unreserved post, and UR-eligible candidates are encouraged to apply.

Qualification and experience

Direct recruitment: Master's degree or equivalent in any discipline with at least 55 percent marks or equivalent Grade of B in the UGC seven-point scale, with at least 9 years' experience as Assistant Professor in the AGP of Rs. 6,000 (Academic Pay Level-10) and above with experience in educational administration, or comparable experience in a research establishment and/or other institutions of higher education; or 5 years' administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or equivalent post in Pay Band-3, Grade Pay Rs. 5,400 (Pay Level-10) and above, with experience in handling computerized administration, Establishment, Stores and Purchase, or financial matters. Desirable: a degree in Law, Management, engineering, CA, CS or ICWA. Deputation: officers from Central/State Governments, Institutes of national importance, Universities or University-level institutions or PSUs, holding an analogous post, or with at least 5 years' service in posts carrying Grade Pay Rs. 6,600 (Pay Level-11) or equivalent with experience in administration, establishment and accounts matters, and possessing a Master's degree with at least 55 percent marks. The deputation period is a maximum up to 22 November 2028, or until the regular incumbent returns from deputation, or until further order, whichever is earlier; the vacancy is against a post on which an individual holds lien.

Fee and selection

The application fee is Rs. 1,000 through online mode, non-refundable; SC, ST, PwD, Ex-Servicemen and Female candidates are exempted. Selection: preliminary shortlisting on essential qualifications and experience; final selection on performance in Presentation and Interview before the Selection Committee; a Written Test and Computer or other Test may be conducted per the Recruitment Rules of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, if required. The closing date for submission is the cut-off date for age, educational qualification and experience.

Dates

Applications must be submitted online latest by 11 December 2026 (up to 11:59 PM) using the Non-Faculty Recruitment module. For Direct Recruitment, no hard-copy submission is required. For Deputation, the printout of the final online application with duly self-attested supporting documents and certification by the Employer/Cadre Controlling Authority must be forwarded to the Registrar, IIT (ISM), Dhanbad-826004, through proper channel, and received within 15 days after the last date of submission.
