National Institute of Technology Silchar has issued an advertisement (Advertisement No. NITS/Dean(R&C)/ECE/689/03/2026, dated 27 October 2026) for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF), temporary, 1 post, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Project: TARANG — "Design of Terahertz Wireless Communications Systems for 6G," under the accelerated research for 6G ecosystem, TTDF scheme/Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. Project sanction: three years or till closure, whichever is earlier, with yearly performance evaluation. Duration of appointment: 3 years or completion of the project, whichever is earlier, with extension based on performance review every 12 months. Principal Investigator: Dr. Sucharita Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, ECE. No fee was stated on the pages checked.

Pay, age and qualification

Salary: INR 37,000 per month, with and without GATE/NET. Age limit: 35 years as of the closing date, 13 November 2026. Essential qualification: candidates with or without valid GATE/NET and minimum 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL, and minimum 55% or 6.0 CGPA at both UG and PG for SC/ST/PwD; OR Bachelor's in Engineering/Technology with at least CGPA 7.5/10 or 70% for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL and at least 7.0/10 or 65% for SC/ST/PwD; B.Tech/B.E. or equivalent in ECE and M.Tech/M.E. in ECE or equivalent (OR) B.Tech/B.E. or equivalent in ECE. Desirable: solid understanding of digital communication, probability theory, optimisation, and wireless communications; experience with programming languages such as MATLAB or Python. Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC/WOMEN/PWD/EWS per Government of India rules.
