The BRIC-Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), Thiruvananthapuram, has invited applications from eligible Indian citizens for technical positions under Advertisement No. RGCB/Advt./TECH/01/2026, dated 28 October 2026. The recruitment covers three posts that support the institute's research laboratories, technology development units and core facilities. Vacancies

Eligibility

Qualifications and work experience are counted as on 14 December 2026. For Technical Officer, the requirement is a first class B.E. or B.Tech. in Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a first class M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Physics or Chemistry, with at least two years of documented relevant work experience in a Central or State Government research institution, public sector undertaking, autonomous body or university. For Technical Assistant Group II, the requirement is a first class Bachelor's degree in Science with at least one year of the same kind of documented experience. For Technical Assistant Group I, the requirement is Plus Two, Higher Secondary, VHSE or equivalent with first class, with at least one year of the same kind of documented experience. The maximum age for all three posts is 35 years as on the last date for receipt of applications.

Fee

There is no application fee for any of the posts. The fee is Rs. 0 for all categories, and no category-wise fee is charged.

Selection process

Applications are first screened by an Institutional Screening Committee, and ineligible applications are rejected without further correspondence. Shortlisted candidates take a three-tier selection examination, held only at Thiruvananthapuram. Tier I is an objective test of 100 questions for 200 marks, with 2 marks for each correct answer and minus 0.50 for each wrong answer, covering general intelligence, general awareness, quantitative aptitude and English language, in 90 minutes. Tier II is a descriptive pen-and-paper test of 100 marks in 90 minutes, on academic subjects and the topics in the job description of the post; candidates answer any 5 of 10 questions. Tier III is a practical skills test based on the job description, which is qualifying in nature on a pass or fail basis. The final merit list ranks candidates who pass Tier III by their combined Tier I and Tier II score, out of 300. Candidates must carry the RGCB admit card and a valid Government of India identity card to every tier. Exam dates are not stated in the advertisement, and any corrigendum will be published only on the institute website.
