Clusters and trades

The slots are spread across five clusters: Mumbai 1,712, Bhusawal 500, Pune 271, Nagpur 221 and Solapur 157. The trades vary by unit and include Fitter, Welder (Gas and Electric), Electrician, Carpenter/Wood Work Technician, Machinist, Turner, Mechanic Diesel, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Electronics Mechanic, Instrument Mechanic, COPA, Programming and Systems Administration Assistant, Painter (General), Sheet Metal Worker, Mason, Blacksmith, Pipe Fitter/Plumber, Cable Jointer, Wireman, Mechanic Auto Electrical and Electronics, Mechanic Communication Equipment Maintenance, Mechanic Radio and TV, ICT System Maintenance, Stenographer (English/Hindi), Tailor/Sewing Technology/Dress Making, Crane Driver, Motor Mechanic, Mechanic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, and Laboratory Assistant (CP), among others. Engineering graduates and diploma holders are not eligible for these slots. A candidate can apply for only one cluster, and only one application is allowed — multiple applications are all rejected.

Eligibility and age

Candidates need a Class 10 pass with at least 50% aggregate marks plus a National Trade Certificate (NCVT) or Provisional NTC (NCVT/SCVT) in the notified trade. Candidates who are currently undergoing or have already completed an apprenticeship must not apply. Age as on 3 November 2026 must be between 15 and 24 years — the candidate must have completed 15 years and not completed 24 years. Relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwBD and up to 10 years for Ex-Servicemen.

Fee and stipend

The application fee is Rs. 100 (non-refundable) for General and OBC candidates, and nil for SC, ST, PwBD and women candidates, payable online through the payment gateway by debit or credit card, net banking, UPI or wallet. The stipend is Rs. 9,600 per month. No hostel is provided.

Selection and how to apply

Selection is by a merit list on the simple average of the Class 10 percentage and the ITI percentage. There is no written examination and no interview. Ties are broken in favour of the older candidate, then the candidate who passed matriculation earlier. Cluster, unit, trade and community-wise merit lists are followed by document verification and a medical fitness check. Apply online only at rrccr.com from 11 AM on 3 November 2026 to 5 PM on 2 December 2026. This is a different recruitment from the RRC North Western Railway Act Apprentice drive that is already live on this site.
