The Sports Authority of India (SAI) invites applications from retired persons for engagement as High Performance Coach on LPD (Last Pay Drawn) minus Pension basis. The advertisement (File No. A-12/8/2026-66) is dated 26 October 2026, and the engagement is for one year or till the age of 64 years, whichever is earlier, under the Department of Expenditure guidelines (O.M. Who can apply

Retired officers who worked under the Central Government, State Governments or Union Territory Administrations and held an analogous post in their parent cadre or department, OR officers with 5 years of regular service in Level-12 (Rs. 78,800–2,09,200). In addition, candidates must meet one of these: a Diploma in Coaching from SAI NS NIS, Patiala or equivalent (as defined by SAI), or from any recognised Indian or Foreign University or Institute; OR participation in the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games or World Championship (or equivalent) with a certificate course in Coaching; OR be a Dronacharya Awardee. Five years of coaching experience in the relevant sport is desirable.

Pay and allowances

Remuneration is a fixed monthly amount equal to the last pay drawn minus pension (the basic pension fixed at retirement, including the commuted portion if the commuted value was taken). The amount stays unchanged for the term of the contract — no annual increment, percentage increase or Dearness Allowance. A transport allowance of Rs. 5,580 or Rs. 11,160 per month is payable depending on the place of posting. No TA/DA is admissible for joining or on completion, and no DA, accommodation, residential phone, personal staff, medical reimbursement, HRA or LTC is admissible. Leave is 1.5 days per month on a pro-rata basis.

Selection and how to apply
