Steel Authority of India Limited, Salem Steel Plant, has issued an advertisement (Advt. No. SSP/HR-2 (15)/2026/(2), dated 30 October 2026) for the engagement of one General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) for its 40-bedded main hospital/Occupational Health Service Center (OHSC) on contractual basis. Reservation: OBC, 1 post. Engagement is purely contractual with no right to regular appointment; no PF/Gratuity/other benefits except as stated; no Non-Practicing Allowance, though private practice is allowed if it does not disrupt assigned working hours. No fee was stated in the notice pages checked.

Pay, age and qualification

Remuneration: Rs. 90,000 per month consolidated pay. Upper age limit: 69 years as on date of advertisement. Minimum essential qualification and experience as on date of advertisement: MBBS from a University/institute recognised by MCI, with MCI/NMC/SMC registration or valid practitioner license and enrolment in the State Register or National register as applicable; candidates with relevant work experience given preference. Tenure: initial one year, further extendable by one year at the Company's discretion; maximum period under the same contract not more than three years. Working hours/leave: minimum 8 hours a day for six days in a week or 48 hours a week; ten days leave allowed in a year (engagement year) with prior approval. Other facilities: 2 BHK company quarter subject to availability on payment of rent, electricity, water and other charges as applicable to executives of Salem Steel Plant for that category of quarter; no HRA admissible; free medical facilities for self and spouse only at SSP Hospital without referral facility; post-paid SIM under CUG and mobile phone expenses including monthly call charges, rental and applicable taxes as per actual, with monthly ceiling of Rs. 350 per month.

Selection and walk-in

Selection: screening of documents and caste certificate, followed by walk-in interview; if required, a screening test will be conducted; medical screening for the selected candidate. Candidates must download the application form (Annexure-1) and submit the duly filled-in form with supporting documents at the time of walk-in interview; no other mode of application will be accepted. Walk-in: registration 08:00 AM to 11:00 AM on 20 November 2026; walk-in interview 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the same day; venue: HRDC Building, Salem Steel Plant.
