The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru (Department of Civil Engineering) has invited applications by email for 1 Research Associate – I (Postdoctoral Researcher) post under the project "Development of Low-Carbon Alternative Materials for Dam Construction and Rehabilitation in Various Climatic Conditions", funded by the Ministry of Jal Shakti (Advt. No. CiE/KBR/2026-27/ICED-DRIP-02 dated 2 November 2026). The Principal Investigator is Dr. Keshav Bharadwaj Ravi. This is a different post from the IISc Junior Program Manager (Project AMRIT, CeNSE) already listed on this site — different department, different advertisement number, different post and different project.

Eligibility and pay

Applicants need a PhD in Civil Engineering from a recognised university (as per DST norms). Prior research in building materials, concrete technology and cementitious chemistry is required; exposure to advanced characterisation tools (isothermal calorimetry, thermogravimetry, particle size analysis) is viewed favourably. Pay is Rs. 58,000 + HRA per month (or based on experience per DST norms); the amount is provisional, subject to document verification, and may be lower per DST norms if experience or qualifications are not met.

Tenure and interview

The engagement is purely temporary: an initial 2 months, extendable up to 1 year on satisfactory performance. The selected candidate must join immediately on offer. No in-campus accommodation is provided and no TA/DA is paid for the interview. The interview is tentatively in the 4th week of November 2026, online or in person at the Department of Civil Engineering, IISc Bengaluru; the date and venue are emailed to shortlisted candidates.
