TNPSC Group 4 Recruitment 2026 — 6,574 vacancies

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is conducting the Combined Civil Services Examination-IV (Group IV Services) under Notification No. 11/2026 (Advertisement No. 747, dated 6 October 2026) for 6,574 tentative vacancies across 46 post entries. The number of vacancies is tentative and may be modified before counselling begins.

Posts

The largest groups are Junior Assistant (Non-Security) with 3,287 posts across the services, Typist with 1,572, Junior Assistant (Accounts) 422, Steno Typist (Grade III) 376, Village Administrative Officer 291, Bill Collector 97, Revenue Assistant 96, Tax Collector 107, Personal Clerk 60, Junior Administrative Assistant 55, Executive Officer (Grade IV) 46, Shorthand Typist (Grade III) 28, Junior Assistant (Security) 28, Laboratory Assistant 23, Record Clerk (Grade III) 19, Sales Assistant 10, Junior Inspector of Co-operative Societies 8, Junior Assistant-cum-Typist 6, Forest Watcher 40, and single posts of Telephone Operator, Senior Laboratory Assistant and Forest Guard with Driving Licence. Pay is mostly at Level 8, with some Level 3, Level 5 and Level 10 posts; a few EPF posts carry fixed scales, for example the Junior Assistant post in the Handloom Weavers Co-operative Societies at Rs. 17,000 to Rs. 54,060.

Last date — extended

The notification itself fixed the last date as 5 November 2026, 11:59 PM. A TNPSC press release dated 4 November 2026 extends the last date to 8 November 2026, 11:59 PM. The press-release PDF itself could not be read from tnpsc.gov.in during verification, but the extension is corroborated by six independent outlets quoting the same press-release wording, so this post uses 8 November 2026 as the last date. The correction window in the notification is 9 to 11 November 2026.

Age

The age limit is counted as on 1 July 2026. The minimum age is 18 years, except 21 years for Village Administrative Officer. The maximum age is post-wise, not a single figure: for most posts it is 30 years for general candidates, and some posts carry no maximum age limit at all. Concessions in the notification include 40 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, 48 years for Ex-Servicemen and, for Destitute Widows, 35 years or no maximum age limit on several posts. G.O. (Ms.) No. 68 of the Human Resources Management (S) Department, dated 30 October 2026, raises the upper age limit by five years for all categories. The press release reports the revised maxima as 37 years for OC, 39 years for BC, BCM, MBC and DNC, and 42 years for SC, SC(A), ST and Destitute Widows — but those figures describe the broad pattern, not every post, so check the post-wise age table in the notification before applying.

Fee and exam

The examination fee is Rs. 100, payable online by net banking, credit or debit card or UPI. Fee concession or exemption is available for eligible special categories as per Annexure II of the notification, subject to free-chance limits.
