Assam Chief Minister's Fellow 2026 — 256 Fellows

The Government of Assam, Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprise Department, through the Chief Minister's Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) Society, has invited applications for 256 Chief Minister's Fellows (a single post; the number may change according to CMAAA Society requirements). The application window opens at 12:00 noon IST on 1 November 2026 and closes at 11:59 PM IST on 14 November 2026. Selected candidates are expected to join in December 2026. The fellowship runs for 24 months, with performance evaluated every six months against KPIs and continuation depending on the outcome.

Remuneration

Year 1: Rs. 6,00,000 per year, inclusive of Rs. 96,000 towards travelling expenses. Year 2: Rs. 6,60,000 per year, inclusive of Rs. 1,08,000 towards travelling expenses.

Eligibility

MBA, an MBA-equivalent qualification, or a Master's degree in Social Sciences, Public Policy or Development Studies, with a meritorious academic record from a reputed university/institution; minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in the qualifying postgraduate/MBA-equivalent degree only (this does not apply separately to Class 10, Class 12 or graduation); CGPA conversion per the awarding institution's prescribed formula. Candidates from premier institutions such as IIMs, IITs, IRMA, TISS and NIRD are preferred. Professionals with multinational/international organisation experience who wish to take a sabbatical are welcome, subject to eligibility. Proficiency in the local languages of Assam, English and Hindi, strong oral and written communication skills, and adequate knowledge/proficiency in computer applications.

Selection and placement

Online application, then shortlisted candidates are called for group discussion and interview, followed by an orientation programme before assignments. Fellows are placed across Assam with the Office of the CEO, CMAAA Society, and District Industries and Commerce Centres, working with District Commissioners and line departments. On completion, Fellows receive a CMAAA–CM Fellow citation and certificate personally signed by the Hon'ble Chief Minister.
