IREL (India) Limited has invited online applications for 131 Tradesman Trainee posts under Advertisement No. CO/HRM/36/2026. Online registration opened on 24 October 2026 and closes on 13 November 2026 at 6:00 PM. The trainees are posted at IREL units across the country — OSCOM at Chhatarpur (Odisha), Chavara (Kerala), Manavalakurichi (Tamil Nadu), RED at Aluva (Kerala), REPM at Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and RETTP at Bhopal.

Trades and vacancies

The largest trade is Fitter with 93 posts, followed by Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant) with 20, Electrician with 12 and Instrumentation with 6. Candidates may apply for only one unit/location and one post/discipline, so the choice of unit matters — for example, Fitter has 32 posts at OSCOM, 26 at Chavara, 20 at Manavalakurichi, 13 at RED, and one each at REPM and RETTP.

Eligibility and experience

Fitter, Electrician and Instrumentation require ITI/NAC in the relevant trade; Electrician also needs a valid statutory licence. Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant) requires ITI/NAC in the trade, or Plus Two Science with Chemistry as a subject and 50% marks in aggregate. All external candidates need two years' post-qualification work experience in the trade or discipline in a reputed industrial establishment, including on-the-job or apprenticeship training. IREL internal candidates need SSC with 4 years' experience in the relevant trade or operation.

Stipend, absorption and fee

During the one-year training, trainees get a consolidated stipend of Rs. 34,200 per month plus HRA on the minimum pay of the W-3 grade (Rs. 22,000). On successful completion, they are absorbed as Tradesman in the W-3 grade, pay scale Rs. 22,000–88,000, with an approximate CTC of Rs. 6.5 lakhs per annum. The fee is Rs. 826 (Rs. 472 application fee + Rs. 354 processing fee, inclusive of GST) for UR/EWS/OBC (NCL) candidates. SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen/Women and IREL internal candidates are exempt from the application fee and pay only the Rs. 354 processing fee.

Selection

Selection is through an online computer-based test of 2 hours with 150 multiple-choice questions — 100 technical and 50 general, one mark each, with no negative marking. The qualifying marks are 50% for UR/EWS and 45% for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) per section. Candidates shortlisted in the ratio of 1:5 are called for a skill test.
