South Western Railway has notified 258 posts under the General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) in Notification No. 01/2026(GDCE), published on 28 October 2026 on the RRC Hubli portal: Goods Train Manager (erstwhile Goods Guard) 247, Junior Engineer/Bridge 2, Junior Engineer/P.Way 2, Junior Engineer/Mechanical Workshop 5 and Junior Engineer/S&T/Signal 2. Online applications open on 09 November 2026 and close on 08 December 2026 at 23:59 hrs. No application fee is stated in the notification.

Who can apply

Only regular serving Railway employees of South Western Railway and RWF/YNK can apply, except RPF/RPSF personnel; Law Assistant, Catering Inspector and Accounts Cadre employees are not eligible. Goods Train Manager applicants need a degree from a recognised university, and Junior Engineer applicants need a three-year diploma in the relevant discipline. The age limit as on 01 January 2027 is 42 years for General, 45 for OBC and 47 for SC/ST, with a minimum of 18 years and no further age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL. No pay is stated in the notification.

Exam pattern

Selection is through a 90-minute Computer Based Test of 100 questions. The qualifying marks are UR 40%, OBC 30%, SC 30% and ST 25%. Applications are made online through the RRC Hubli portal.
