19 Skilled Artisan posts at MMS Kolkata — old notification re-opened

The Department of Posts (India Post), West Bengal Circle, has re-opened 19 Skilled Artisan / Tradesmen posts at Mail Motor Services, Kolkata, through a corrigendum dated 29 October 2026 (Notification No. MMG/36/Sk. Artisan/DR/II/95) to the notification dated 19 May 2020, published in Employment News 03rd–09th October 2020. The vacancies pertain to 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18: MV Mechanic 8 (02 earmarked for Ex-Servicemen), MV Electrician 4, Tyreman 2, Blacksmith 2, Painter 1, Upholsterer 1 and Carpenter and Joiner 1 (SC 4, OBC 4, ST 1, UR 10). The last date is 30 November 2026 by 17:00 hours. Applications are offline only, by Speed Post, in a separate envelope for each trade.

Previous applicants

Previous applications made in response to the notifications dated 08 August 2018 and 19 May 2020 will be considered, but a fresh application mentioning choices as per the corrigendum is preferable, and fresh candidates may also apply.

Eligibility, age and pay

Candidates need a certificate in the respective trade from any Technical Institution recognized by Government, or VIII Standard passed with experience of one year in the respective trade; candidates for the M.V. Mechanic trade must possess a valid Driving Licence (HMV). The age limit is 18 to 30 years as on 01 July 2018 for unreserved candidates, as stated in the notification which the corrigendum re-opens, with relaxations for SC/ST (5 years), OBC Non-creamy layer (3 years), Central Government servants (up to 40 years) and Ex-Servicemen. No application fee is mentioned in the notification. The pay is Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 (Level 2 in the pay matrix as per the 7th CPC) plus admissible allowances, with a probation of one year. Selection is by Competitive Trade Test.

Send the application on plain paper in the prescribed format, duly filled and signed, with self-attested photocopies of certificates (age proof, address proof, Indian citizenship, educational qualification, community certificate where applicable, and two passport-size photographs), in a separate envelope for each trade superscribing the trade applied for, through Speed Post only to The Senior Manager, Mail Motor Services, 139, Beleghata Road, Kolkata – 700015, by 30 November 2026, 17:00 hours.
